Total Fire Ban Declared on Saturday 10 January 2026 In ACT
Notice of ACT Government, Canberra :
A Total Fire Ban has been declared from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm on Saturday, 10 January 2026.
A Total Fire Ban means no fires are permitted in the open air.
🚫 During a Total Fire Ban, it is an offence to:
- Light, maintain, or use a fire in the open air.
- Undertake high-risk activities that may cause a fire to ignite, including:
- Hot works such as welding, grinding, soldering, and gas cutting.
- Use slashers or harvesting machinery in rural areas.
✅ What is allowed:
You may use gas or electric cooking appliances only if all of the following conditions are met:
- The BBQ is under constant adult supervision.
- A minimum three-metre area around the BBQ is clear of combustible materials.
- A fire extinguisher or continuous supply of water is immediately available.
🏞️ Public BBQs:
- Electric BBQs in parks and reserves, including the National Arboretum Canberra and Canberra’s urban parks, will remain available.
- All gas BBQs in public areas will be turned off.
⚠️ Fire Danger Rating:
The Fire Danger Rating for Saturday, 10 January 2026 is EXTREME.
